Inner City Transformation,

This 1910 brick house has seen many renovations since it was originally constructed. The latest was carried out by Jameswood Homes Inc. This building, which housed three apartments, is now a single family home.

We gutted the interior - basement to loft - and then proceeded to bring the structure up to present day codes. This entailed re-pouring pads and concrete floors in the basement; replacing columns and beams in the basement and on the main floor, replacing subfloors on the second floor and in the loft, and replacing the stairs and reinforcing the stairwells.

Once the structural details were completed, we moved on to replacing exterior doors and windows, replacing existing plumbing, electrical and heating to meet code, and exchanging batt insulation with 2 lb. spray foam insulation.
After we passed the pre-board inspection, it was time to drywall and to take care of interior finishing details. The homeowner wanted to retain the original look of the interior trims and floors.

The final stage was installing hardwood floors throughout and then paint top to bottom.

On the exterior, the loft dormers and the back entry addition were stripped and clad with cedar shingles and the back steps were replaced with a cedar landing and stairs to update the look of the building.
